Preventive Measures of Bicycle Accidents
In modern days it is a common thing to move from one place to another. People use various means of transport. Some people find themselves using bicycles to travel from one place to another. Some ride bicycles for recreational purposes. As accidents happen on a daily basis on our roads, there is the urge for those riding bicycles to take measures to prevent a number of accidents. The accident may be led by the cyclist or the other traffic on the road. Due to this, a rider of a bicycle needs to pay much attention to the other traffic. One of the preventive measures that the cyclists should take to prevent some accidents is to wear bright colors which are reflective such as orange and yellow. They should always put on this to make themselves visible to other road users.
The should make sure that their front headlight is in use when driving in the dark and this also acts as a measure of prevention. This helps them to see ahead and also makes them visible to approaching traffic. The other measure that the cyclists are supposed to take is, they should never stop side by side to the car in instances where the traffic right turns red. This act makes them invisible to other drivers even with the use of mirrors and they are therefore termed as a blindspot. They should stand behind the car or at the front of the car to prevent them from being crashed whenever the traffic light signal turns to green. The other precaution is that the cyclists should always ride at a moderate speed. It becomes helpful to them in emergency instances as average speed enables them to make an immediate stop. Another precaution is that before entering a road they should always take a look from the left and right before proceeding to the road.
The cyclists should always give out a signal when they want to turn. It is useful as it helps other road users to be aware of their intention and hence act appropriately. Unexpected turns should be in the back of the minds of people riding bicycles, and they should respond to them as quick as they can. The other measure is for the cyclists not to wear headphones when riding as they distract the sound of the traffic on the road and impairs your hearing. Cyclists should also have a proper choice of choice of bicycles, and they should make it a routine to inspect their bicycles before leaving for any journey.
